BF2 vista problem

Managed to install bf2/special forces and patch up to 1.50 ( which is current patch afaik) my problem is whenever i try to boot up either of these my screen goes black for a few seconds (10-20ish) then i get thrown back to my desktop. Checking the task manager finds no trace of the game running after this happens and i cant seem to get any further.

I have tried compatability mode and running as admin but no joy so far, anyone else having this problem?

if i remeber correct its something to do with the sound setting? the vista sound setting contrast with a few games, but i havnt had bf2 installed in a while

i disabled all that extra vista sound bollocks, always caused nothing but trouble so i dont think its that, i'll look into it though, cheers Fish

Not having either thing running on my system only help I can offer is what I find in Google, which I assume you will have looked at too.

The general consensus I have seen so far is that it wont work with vista with 1 gig of ram. you need at least 2 gigs apparently and this caused folks a lot of problems.

Although other suggestions are:

* In control panel, find User Account, switch to classic view if you can't find it.
Turn user account off. The game should start fine apparently.

* Problems with vista, disable UAC controle and see if that helps too?

I am sure the answer is out there mate, just a matter of finding it.

i think i might have found a better solution - Ditch vista lol, nothing i've tried ( including the above) seems to make a difference

i cant stand vista but tbh up until now its not given me tooo much trouble, i only installed it coz i cba with all the faff involved with re-installing XP hehe

do you have to buy the SF patch? not sure which vs i'm running..i will get up to 1.5 tonight

I need to get the sf addition too. Just the basic set here. And I need to reinstall it.

Sf is a true expansion ( included in the deluxe edition afaik) so my guess is you'll need to buy it, all the down-loadable stuff is included ( Euro force, Armored fury etc) in the 1.5 patch according to the patch notes i've read.

I think, i may have to find a retail>1.41 patch then install the 1.5 patch ( even though i have whats supposedly a 1.5 patch for all versions) to get my game to work, will test it and find out

Haven't got to the patching point yet due to being unable to set up or retrieve my account info ingame, or it just plain refusing my details when I know they are 100% correct as I am copying them off EA. Fecking game has it in for me I swear.

Hard to play a game that won't let you create an account, which I need to do before I can register my booster and SF bits of the game. Going to leave it a day and see if it helps, apparently this has been a problem since 2007, and people are still posting about it being a problem today in 2009.

Not exactly filling me with confidence for BC2 if you catch my drift.

i only have bf2 normal, no expansion packs as i cba. ill get my bf2 sorted soon.

i think i used to have a problem creating an account, but i was able to this time after not playing for a couple years. have you tried with a different email address?

That is the next thing on my list to try mate, means I loose my name that would go with the original account/email though.

I thought it might be a workaround for it, but not much of one Bro.

i had to do it, my BF2 name is Ultrahaus
