The eleventh hour, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month is the day the UK and the commonwealth remember our dead from the World Wars and all subsequent conflicts.
Spare a thought for those who gave their lives in the past so that we today can enjoy our freedom, and spare a thought for those still in harms way serving their country today.
In Flanders Field (WW1 Poem written by a Canadian for those who don't know)
In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them".
