Battlefield is going premium and your not gonna like what its doing. At first I thought it was just access to the map packs early but its not ya know.

The details below have been leaked and I can only assume they are official as EA is deleting EVERY thread where its posted or even mentioned. In fact they have now gone as far and locking the entire forum down, so to me that screams legitimate.

I dont really give a shit if someone has a special knife or funky black dog tags, but see the bit where they get priority in server queues WTF! I wouldn't want to be the premium user who bumps a server admin from his own server. Twisted Evil

Discuss!

Oh and there are rumours that there is another expansion, as yet unannounced, to be released in Mar2013. You heard it here first ladies.

Agree with you Slaine, but actually, if you were going to buy the expansions anyway (which is a big if) they will be £15 each so you might as well "go premium".

Agree on the priority queue though... Inappropriate.

p.s. I love how they call it "innovative". According to my friend dictionary.com, innovative is being or producing something like nothing done or experienced or created before. Wtf is new in what they've listed?

I believe 'innovative' in DICE's dictionary just shows a picture of COD's Elite Package with the words 'copy and paste' beneath it. Laughing

And I take your point about possibly saving money on the DLC if you get the premium package, however only a moron would part with cash for things they know absolutely frack all about at present. And momma didn't raise no moron. Cool

Oh and I just seen the launch trailer for the Premium package, seems everything that was predicted in that document that EA tried to hide (and I posted earlier) has come to pass.

Servers and Battlelog are all being updated now and 'should' be back up around 2000hrs GMT. Rumour has it that they have been testing reserved slots, so if that rolls out with this new patch as well, then I don't think that the premium queue jumpers will be that much of an issue on peoples own servers.

More details on things as they develop, as usual my finger is on the pulse ....... although I wont tell you what I am doing with my other hand. Razz

Edit:Time till servers restored now moved back to 2130hrs GMT, guess they ran into problems. Be surprised if the servers are back up at that time as well. Though they have managed to get the fuckin consoles back up and running already, prepare to be shafted yet again.

Battlelog is FINALLY up even if it says its down as its still being updated, its more facefeck looking now than it was before. Laughing

Server browser is also up, favorites haven't been wiped which I actually feared, although no servers are showing any ping. Ooops did someone forget a line of coding per chance, nothing surprises me anymore with DICE/EA. Laughing

So any more info on this premium shite? I can see the benefit in save some cash on expansions ( though to be fair even at £15 they are reasonably priced giving that most seem to be clocking in at almost the same price as the original game these days) and the rest is icing on the cake.

The priority queue bollocks though is what pisses me off the most - basicly EA are saying thanks for the £40 ( or whatever the game cost) but unless you pay us more, your not important enough to play as much as [randomnoobtwatfacebollocklicker].

So who's upgraded already? Managed to get some game time and it seems like i was the only non premium player there. Some funky shit going on too i might add, like being stabbed in the back despite being on the top floor of a building with my back to a wall and facing the only way into the room, maybe they have kind of stealth suit ala the predator.

If i had the money i would probably "go premium" just becasue it includes all the expansions and would probly work out cheaper with a few extra shit, i do agree though that priority stuff is bad

Amen brother, go tell it on the mountain. When we were playing last night it seemed every dodgy bastard in the game had bought premium. In fact I was so pissed off after we finished (as well as slightly pished) I went and had a full rant on the Battlelog forums. Twisted Evil

PostSubject: Re: Battlefield 3   Wed 06 Jun 2012, 12:09

the only features i look for if im going to get them or not

BATTLEFIELD 3: CLOSE QUARTERS KEY FEATURES
Get plunged into frantic and relentless infantry combat on 4 new maps
HD Destruction lets you reduce entire locales to ruin
Earn 10 new weapons and bring them back to the base game
Complete 10 new Assignments and equip 5 unique dog tags (this i will get for the 10 guns)

BATTLEFIELD 3: ARMORED KILL KEY FEATURES
All-out vehicle warfare on huge maps
Includes the biggest map in Battlefield history
New vehicles, including tanks, ATV’s, and mobile artillery (not sure if i will bother with this as i like infantry more than armor anyway )

and no clue what the other 2 are going to be like yet so no point in me bothering getting premium the 4th addon is not due till march 2013

If Armoured kill goes the same way as Armoured Fist ( i think - it was the BF2 pack in a similar vein) then it's wasted cash. Everyone bought that but no one played it. the Euro pack was marginally better but again was full of fail.

Way I see it Close Quarters is trying to steal the COD crowd (which it will probably do btw) as we have previously discussed in this very thread.

Armoured Kill is going to be a proper BF map, huge (biggest map in the series to date according to DICE) and from what I have seen looks like the Tehran highway section of SP.

And of course Kyrp is correct, its sounding quite similar to Armoured Fist but we cant really pass judgement on ANYTHING until we actually see what they produce.

Just a heads up, R26 server update should be rolling out this Wednesday so expect servers to be up and down from now until then as some RSP's will be testing this new build before it goes alpha on Wednesday.

Changelist
- Bugfixes for the new Join Queue mechanism. With these changes in place, players who join via the queue will get GUIDs. This will make 3rd party RCON tools happier. This should also solve problems with players not being listed in PunkBuster’s player list.
- Bugfixes in the double XP support.

^^
And thats fecking it apparently, although it is rumoured that a fix for reserved slots will also be rolled out in this patch. Should put all those queue hoping Premiums in their place on squad owned servers.
