I need a gfx card to go with a 2.8 quad core cpu. My budget will be around 200 notes, recommendations anyone?

Its an AMD athlon II x4 630 2.81GHz on an asrock motherboard with 4gig of ram - which i bought with your recommendation, you even provided the link via which it was purchased so if it sucks, you owe me Razz

My PSU is an OCZ modxstream-pro - which is fully awesome

decent CPU, beats the socket 775 Quads..could you overclock it to 3.3+ ghz?

providing your PSU is above 550/580w go for this:

http://www.ebuyer.com/254405-asus-gtx-560ti-directcu-ii-1gb-gddr5-dual-dvi-mini-hdmi-pci-e-engtx560-ti-dcii-2di-1gd5

comes with a free game (batman arkham city - awesome) and should balance ya system quite nicely without much bottleneck. Smile

That should do the trick, iirc its a 700w psu and i can overclock easily so it should be all good. Cheers for the info dude.

Will i need a HD monitor to run it or am i good with a vanilla one?

you should be ok with ya vanilla, a 1680x1050 or a 1920x1080p one would be IDEAL but if you wanna keep ya old moniter go for it.. id recoment a 1080p DVI/HDMI (same thing) if you care that much.

my brother doesnt notice any difference from VGA to DVI but if you get a new one, go LED, they pwn!

I'm thinking about using one of these

http://www.viewsonic.com/products/vx2253mh-led.htm

Hate the fact it's widescreen though, cant stand em for gaming but they dont seem to make any decent monitors thesedays that not.

Well in regards to they both transmit a digital picture signal, yes but other than that they are different..

HDMI can transmit both digital sound and digital audio signals as well as sporting HDCP. This makes it 100% compatable with blu-ray devices and play back.

Just showing i do my homework sometimes hehe. In the grand scheme of things i dont intend using blu-rays on my pc so i dont think it'll make any difference for me, which is why i'm considering picking up the same monitor fishy posted Smile
